An Intimate Festival Launch
Nusa Dua, 4 July 2016… Jazz Market by the Sea 2016 (JM 2016) really knows how to entertain the jazz community, both local and national. Various culture-themed activities will be held during this 6th annual event, taking place 19-21 August at Taman Bhagawan, Tanjung Benoa – Nusa Dua, Bali.
“It is our mission to showcase Indonesian heritage during each event. This year our theme is Clothing the Nation –featuring textiles especially endek from Klungkung, gringsing from Tenganan and batik from Java,” says Astari Siswanto, Founder of JM 2016.
The conference invited an array of musicians that will perform in the JM 2016 among them Lilo from KLA Project, John from White Shoes and the Couples Company, Endah representing the first time ever collaboration of Dialog Dini Hari and Endah n Rhesa (DDHEAR), Dira from Dira Bongs, and Erik Sondhy.
Endah, vocalist of DDHEAR, stated “As DDHEAR was born in Bali, our playing at the 6th Jazz market is like coming home.”
Dwiki Darmawan, a member of Krakatau Reunion, also shared his experience performing at Jazz Market two years ago, he says, “It is in one of the top 5 best events from the 70 countries that I have had the pleasure of performing in. It was one of the best in terms of content, organization, and an excellent concept that infuses Indonesian culture with jazz music, on the beach.”
“We bring a line up suited for all ages– teenagers, family and the nostalgic 90s generation,” mentions Jappy Sanger, the Co-founder of Jazz Market.
Lilo, the guitarist from KLA project, the headliner of this year’s festival, said,” The idealism of the festival, has inspired me to create a unique composition for KLA Project performance during the festival.”
Jazz Market by the Sea 2016 will be held at Taman Bhagawan Tanjung Benoa Bali on 19 to 21 August 2016.
